Who ya gonna call?

Here in CT we’ve had two area codes for the longest time. As of Saturday, we now have four. Apparently we are running out of available numbers here int he state so The Connecticut Department of Public Utility Control so the agency implemented a statewide mandatory 10-digit dialing plan. All in-state callers must now use the new dialing procedure when placing a local call in Connecticut. Needless to say, if callers forget and dial only the seven-digit telephone number, the call will not be completed. Instead, a recording will instruct the caller to hang up and dial again.
Starting Dec. 12, Connecticut customers who are currently being served by the 203 area code and have requested a new telephone service, or add a phone line or even move within the state, may receive the new 475 area code. According to John F. Butler, external affairs manager at Verizon (News - Alert) Wireless, it is important for all customers to begin thinking of their telephone number as a 10-digit number when providing it to family and friends.
So, if you are at all interested:
o the area code 475 will be added in the southwestern CT region (currently all 203)
o the area code 959 will be added in the rest of Connecticut (currently all 860)
