The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Writing Erotic Romance
by Walt br>My writing goddess wife noticed that her Erotic Writing romance book got listed on Amazon.
The Complete Idiot's Guide To Writing Erotic Romance -- mentioned in one of my previous posts and obviously mentioned on my wife's blog by now is due out in early September.
One thing that mid-list authors fret about is the release date of their books. They'd like to have their books be put on the shelves and ship online all on the same day. While this is pretty near impossible because of logistics, it doesn't keep them from wanting it all the same.
You see, making the Best Selling Lists is all about the frequency of sales. If a book makes the list because all of the books sell off in the same week, that book is a best seller. If the same number of books get sold over a period of several months, then the book isn't considered for any of the widely known "Best Seller" lists.
Alison has been running a contest involving her latest book, Deep Breath; it's pretty much like a "buy one, get the next one free" and she'll be ponying up the money to buy and ship out several dozen copies of her next book due out late this year. We're even giving a few away who mail in a postcard, so technically no purchase is necessary.
UPDATE: I've been informed that the postcard send in is part of a completely different contest.
So much for my knowledge of Alison's affairs...
But as I mentioned before, the buzz seems to be more about her "Idiot's Guide to Writing Erotic Romance". While it's coming out in September, I'm sure Alison will be setting up a giveaway for that, too. Sadly, I don't think her contract provides for very many author's copies, so that will probably be less subdued. If I can grab one of those when they come in, I'll have my own private giveaway! Shhh! Don't tell Alison this!

Good thing she doesn't read this blog, eh?

You kidding? There's only about five people who read this blog, and Alison is one of them.

Yeah, but I’m the other four. You all knew about the multiple personality thing, right? There is no Walt, there is no Jr. Perfessor, no Perfessor’s Wife, no Mike, no...

Yeah, it was a joke. I know she reads this blog!
The best way (or so I've heard) to bring traffic to your blog is to comment on other blogs. I always have to wonder, though, at the people who read dozens and dozens of blogs every day and have time to leave comments on them all...

Hey, I wonder how people who read dozens and dozens of blogs every day have the time to do stuff like, work, go shopping, walk the dog, drive the kids places, eat, do laundry, you know, ever day stuff like that.
Oh yeah, you’re right, there is no spoon, it’s a spork.
