Since this is an Olbermann clip, you'll know which side of the aisle he's coming from. The following commentary is not fair.
It is, however, mostly true.
A ten minute rant on Ayers, witch doctors, people who pal around with domestic terrorists who ALSO live in the Alaskan governor's mansion... (yes, Todd Palin, please explain your time with the secessionists -- did you know the founder of that secessionist movement was killed during an attempt to buy plastic explosives? )
So, no, this video is not for those convinced that Northern Virginia is "communist country" -- like John McCain's brother proposed this past week [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdO4qncOw4Y ]
Olbermann is the anti-Fox Network all by his lonesome.
Some things just need to be said.
Update:
And then there's this:
In truth, Sarah wasn't officially a member -- just attended a couple of conventions, was considered a member as late as last year by their current leader and Sarah made the address for this year's convention you see above this March.
If you ever wanted to see someone more of a functional idiot than any person you've ever known, just play the interview below. It's just a short segment about Sarah Palin defending the claims that she has experience dealing with Russia.
Yes, there's an ad in front of this vid, but watch this and be amazed.
If you don't have the sound on, here's the sample
COURIC: You've cited Alaska's proximity to Russia as part of your foreign policy experience. What did you mean by that?
PALIN: That Alaska has a very narrow maritime border between a foreign country, Russia, and on our other side, the land -- boundary that we have with -- Canada. [...]
COURIC: Explain to me why that enhances your foreign policy credentials.
PALIN: Well, it certainly does because our -- our next door neighbors are foreign countries. They're in the state that I am the executive of. And there in Russia --
COURIC: Have you ever been involved with any negotiations, for example, with the Russians?
PALIN: We have trade missions back and forth. We -- we do -- it's very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia as Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where -- where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border. It is -- from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there. They are right next to -- to our state.
I'm not too sure I know what she's saying here. The funny part is, I'm pretty certain she doesn't know what she's saying either.
All that time behind closed doors with her political handlers and they still can't come up with an answer for her to parrot.
What rings true about the following YouTube is that when on stage together since the convention, Palin makes McCain look old. McCain is probably a lot more active than he seems, but appearances do mean a lot.
Addendum: For a stupider YouTube take on the McCain vetting process, there's this YouTube. I don't recommend it. ("You live near Russia. That makes you an expert on the country!!")
Don't attack her because she's a woman. Unless she's Hillary.
A three year governor after being a mayor of a town of 200,000 isn't enough experience to be Vice President. Unless you're a two year governor after being a mayor of a town of 9,000. Then that's plenty.
And don't say that she's a bad parent, unless she's the parent of Jamie Spears. Then you're a pinhead.
Thank you, Jon Stewart.
Stay tuned to the end to hear Palin from a few months ago.
When I first saw the YouTube of Palin welcoming the (allegedly) secessionist Alaska Independence Party to their state convention, I didn't think much of it.
And then I saw all the traction that was getting on the various boards... not because she made the "Welcome for the political competition" remark, but for the fact that Palin apparently used to be a part of this political organization.
I guess wanting your state to leave the United States is still considered a bit treasonous by some, but obviously not by the Federal or State statutes.
Screw the Secret Muslim semi-joke slam at Obama -- Would Palin encourage Alaska to leave the Union should she get high up in the Federal Government?
Of course not, that's silly. After all, she's a Republican now, she's not for state's rights...
oh... wait.
Now, I haven't heard her really speak yet, and I personally think that the Babygate and the Troopergate stuff is a huge but crappy distraction that won't matter -- aside from her required sworn testimony and document submittal (she's lawyered up to deal with the court case proceeding shortly and she's claiming Executive Privilege)
...but this Secessiongate stuff has got legs... more than Palin does.
What does the Alaska Independence Party party stand for? Well, the Federal Government owns more land in Alaska than all the other states combined. The Alaska Independence Party wants that Federal Land back in Alaska's hands. Makes sense. Good luck getting all that back.
You'd have to elect someone as President to get that much clout...
oh... wait.
