As mentioned before, the Trail Riders are coming to Houston, making their way at the moment into Houston’s Memorial Park, their second to last day of modern day trail riding. Most businesses in Houston celebrate this by allowing the workers to dress up in “Urban Cowboy Gear” (uh, western shirts and jeans with maybe a shiny belt buckle… and the only time of the year you get to wear those boots!). All the trailriders spend the night in Memorial Park and Saturday morning, there’s a nice parade!

The end of the parade means the beginning of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo which takes place where the Houston Texans play, and goes on for two weeks. If you’re not familiar with the rodeo, there’s a music act that plays every night. Yep. You’re in a large stadium, there’s several dozen large animals involved in various rodeo type activities, and then… a stage is carted out to the center of the dirt field, and Hannah Montana starts lip sync’ing her heart out! If you squint real hard you can see that she’s the one in the blond wig.
Now you know how the organizers get 70,000 people to watch a rodeo each night for two weeks. Hey, it’s for charity!
