Pirates of the Caribbean 3: Walt’s Quick Review

— If you enjoyed Pirates 2, GO SEE THIS –

Back in the days before plastic bags were the norm for carting home your potatoes, the spuds would come in those loose weave bags like what maybe you’ve seen onions or oranges in.

The bags that held ten pounds of potatoes, would be so big, and if you know what I mean, you’ll get it when I say that

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 3 is like 15 pounds of plot in a 10 pound bag. The damn movie is bursting at the seams with all the possible (and some impossible) plotlines and character traits.

Is it worth sitting through? Yes. Are there slow spots so you can get up and go pee during this 2 hour 47 minute long movie? No. Well, yes, but they’re all at the beginning.

Overall, the film is a glorious mess, and filled with rich slop from stem to stern. Within the mythos of the show I would quibble a bit, but as far as pure entertainment value, my first thought holds true: If you liked Pirates 2, go see this.

If you enjoyed the first Pirates movie but thought the second installment was a loud and confusing mess, avoid this third Pirates movie at all costs. It’s the best mess of a movie ever.

And what’s even better/worse about it, it looks like we got the director’s cut. The only thing that was missing was the blooper reel.

Oh. Last thing: The tidbit after the credits. Don’t bother. It’s cute, but not essential.

Have a great weekend!

  1. *winces* Okay, maybe I’ll wait for the DVD… I didn’t hate #2, but I sure as hell didn’t love it, either, and I think I’d rather sit on my own couch through another long movie like this rather than in a crowded theater!

  2. I can’t WAIT to make you go again with me, hahaha! I loved both #1 and #2 and see no reason that I won’t love #3. I’m so easy when it comes to this franchise. SOOOO easy.

  3. This movie reminds you to be mindful of what you lick and when…

  4. Oooohhh, great review. Yo, Ho! I really enjoyed Pirates 2, so I’m sure I’ll fall into the thick of things with number 3. I’ve been counting down the months for this one. We’re going to see it either tomorrow or Sunday and already have plans to watch it more than once. *g* I’m a bit bummed that the thing after the credits wasn’t worth seeing. I really look forward to those. :(

  5. I actually had a hard time following #2 as I couldn’t rightly remember (or, in some cases, actually care) about all of the characters in the film returning from #1. Here I didn’t have that problem, It was very enjoyable, and even though it was longer than Spidey #3, it didn’t feel like it.

My complete review will be posted soon, and I’ll link you all to it as soon as it is up.
