Neil Gaiman’s STARDUST – early trailer
by Walt br>Nicked from a Russian website, this trailer is an early version of what will be the official trailer soon enough for the upcoming STARDUST.
What's it about? Watch the trailer. I don't suspect it will stay online for long.
How do you know it's an early trailer?
Because they used "temp music" from another movie... notably PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN.
The girl is played by Sienna Miller, aka in the real world as "Sluttienna", because she stole Jude Law away from his marriage.
Neil Gaiman is a brilliant writer, but how his prose translates into movies...
well, it does make for a decent trailer.

Oh, wow. That looks awesome.
Then again, so did the The Prestige trailer, heh. ;)

I liked The Prestige a lot better than The Illusionist. Walt did not. My daughter turned off The Illusionist halfway through, as uninvolved as I was. Being romantic and all, you would think that's the one I would like, ha!

I'm siding with Walt on this one, which is unusual, because our movie tastes are pretty different. I loved The Illusionist far more than The Prestige. I found the atmosphere of The Illusionist to be mesmerizing, and I didn't feel that it was expecting me to be fooled by the "twist." The Prestige was the opposite--disjointed storytelling and condescending to the audience in terms of what it expected us to be surprised by. To me, the only thing redeeming about The Prestige was the Jackman and Bale eye candy. ;)

See, and I thought the disjointed storytelling appealing as it gave the viewer credit for not needing handholding to keep up with the back and forth of the journals (which totally tickled me with each reveal). Love seeing things differently!

Ha. The reveals just made me feel exasperated, like they expected me to be SO surprised and SO intrigued by them, and I just wasn't!

I’ll weigh in on this debate when I’ve seen either (both) films (something I — unfortunately — did not get to do).

Dude, I (on average) see a film a week, there just isn’t enough time in the day (I do, after all, have to leave some time to read comics).

Not to say The Prestige didn't have it's faults. It certainly did. (Perfessor, don't read if you don't want to know spoilers.) I knew Fallon was the key, but I thought it would be something cooler than the twin thing, though I get the juxtaposition of the "magic" provided for Jackman by Tesla and the true manipulative illusion of Bale's character's performance. But then I thought the "musical montage" (is that a Team America TM?) at the end of The Illusionist where they showed all the dropped clues - Look, Dear Viewer! In case you missed them, here are the clues we left you to figure out what was happening! - was as condescending as anything could possibly get, LOL!

Thanks Alison, much obliged. I stopped right there.
