Justice for Money!

Last week, Stephen Colbert went on a rant about the State of Arizona’s plan to privitize the State’s prison system by selling off nine of it’s 10 prisons, and then leasing them back from the new owners.
Yep, while that may sound preposterous to, well rational people, apparent the very notion of Arizona selling its prisons then leasing them back from the buyer to solve short-term cash flow problems somehow sounds like a great idea to the elected government officials in Arizona.
Here, is Colbert’s take on the whole situation:

Don’tcha just love it when comedians put stuff into perspective for all of us?

"The Green Mile" says it all, really.

Interestingly enough, I read Dr. Tim Leary’s autobiography and he was briefly incarcerated in California (drug misdemeanor) and while there developed a plan on how to turn the Cali penal system into a revenue stream for the State (and no, it wasn't the plan Arizona is about to implement).
Needless to say, no one listened to him.
