I traveled to my favorite local bookstore, Katy Budget Books in Katy, Texas for their Harry Potter Release Party that took place in the couple of hours before midnight last night and took a few photos. I’d like to thank the folks at KBB for putting this event on and allowing me to put up these photos.
This post will be just a photo dump of the event. You’ll see the Sorting Ceremony, conducted on everyone that had reserved the 7th and final Harry Potter book.
Younger ones who came appropriately dressed were assigned to Gryffindor, the house our hero Harry was also sorted into. This kid carried around a Hedwig owl doll like it was a teddy bear.
As seen in the header, many of the older girls and boys were happily assigned to Slytherin, the house of the Dark Lord.

Adults and those not dressed would inevetibly be sorted into one of the two other houses.
Apparently, there were “assignments” given out by the staff

in the form of a report card where those so choosing would go to each station and complete an assignment, such as Herbology (not pictured) and the like.
Here’s where you stick your hand up the nostril of a dragon and pull out real dragon snot!
Many games were played,

faces painted

and fun was had by all!
Some made up their own costumes mashing up from previous (Spider-Man) loves

and some made up their own characters out of thin air and office supplies

It was lucky the fire marshal didn’t show up. It was so crowded, I had to hold the camera above my head, just to keep from having someone else’s head be the main feature of my photographs…

Some fans looked out of place

and some fans looked right at home.

In the end, everyone went away reading, wanting to have all their questions answered.

There won’t be another event like this for a while, I suspect. The staff at the store obviously went to a great effort, just for the release of only a few hundred copies of the final Harry Potter book. It speaks volumes about a lot of things, yes?

Personally, I was sleeping at this time. I think that I had more fun.

*high fives the Perf* You’re my favorite party pooper!
I, also, was asleep. Had no idea he had gone. But when he came back, I realized that was why the dog had climbed into bed and cuddle me like she’d been abandoned in the wilds of Alaska. Fun seeing Dee Davis’s and Robin Schone’s books in the background!

—Humm, Walt is out and about cavorting with Wizards, bad girls, and well muggles, and you are at home…in bed, cuddling up with the (girl) dog.
Seems to me I saw a movie like this once, but yeah, it all sounds like suburbia to me.

Thanks so much for posting the pictures. They are all very good! All the KBB employees had a great time putting this together. I am glad that you had fun too.
