Do you like words?
Here’s some dynamic text of the famous speech from V from the movie.
It puts a nice look to the words spoken in the famous speech early on.

Hooray for alliteration?
I love this movie. Must watch it again soon…before we get rid of our HD DVD player.

Nice speech, cute visuals, too bad the movie itself blew Chunks (sorry Bekke).

You have a right to your opinion, Perfessor. Even when you’re wrong. ;-)

Bekke, I’m certain that I reviewed this film when it cam out, but for the life of me, I can’t find the review. Butt for what it is worth, V was protesting a fascist government, so he kidnapped a young woman and essentially tortured her until she saw his point of view. This does not make him noble or heroic, it makes a kidnapper, torturer, and something of a fascist himself.
The particular view that is espoused in this film is one that is of particular interest to British writers and audience, I am neither and found it dull, repetitive, and as underwhelming as the comicbook on which it was based. I realize that we don’t — and won’t — see eye-to-eye on this, but it really was a horrid film, and the reasons that I mentioned are really only a couple of the more prominent reasons. Trust me there many (many) more.

I LOVEDLOVEDLOVED it, and it was one of the DVDs on my list this last Christmas, and was the first thing I watched again on my portable DVD player that I also got for Christmas. So there. ;)

Oh well, Here is what I said when I originally reviewed (I finally found the link — it was on my film blog, silly me!)

Perfessor, I think your problem is that in the movie, V was presented as a hero and freedom fighter. In the comic books, as I understand, he was neither. He was simply an anarchist, and the theme of the story was whether anarchy is better than dictatorship. I don’t think you’re supposed to root for V as a hero, but the movie did make the mistake of at least somewhat presenting it that way. For some reason, I didn’t really view him that way as I watched it, though, and so didn’t take offense at any un-heroic thing he did.

I never read the comic, and yeah, in the film it was sort of a “the ends justify the means” set-up, which didn’t sit so well with me.
