The Amazing Bruce Campbell

The Amazing Bruce Campbell

This is a little bit of cultural silliness, that will hopefully distract us all from the political and economic silliness that is chaotically going all around us these days.

Any of you folks who have ever seen a Sam Raimi film, have probably already become aware of Rami’s fascination with the actor, Bruce Campbell. Bruce has appeared in numerous Rami films, most notably in the Army of Darkness/Evil Dead films where Campbell starred as Ashley J. Williams, a poor schlump who gets tossed into, well all sorts of trouble (if you haven’t seen them, you really need to).

Anyway, in addition to these staring roles, Rami has tapped Campbell for bit parts in quite a few of his other films (including three separate roles in his Spider-Man Trilogy). Anyway, The Army of Darkness films have proven to be such a cult classic, that, not only have they been adapted into comics by Dynamic Forces comics.

Still, all of this isn’t enough for our pal Bruce (who also appears as a regular in USA’s hit cable show, Burn Notice), it now seems that Bruce himself is a funnybook character himself, appearing in his very own Dark Horse Comic entitled My Name is Bruce. Well, the comic plays off Campbell’s cult appeal, as well as that of Ash from the Evil Dead films.

The comic just came out, and, well, is a very fun read, and if you like Campbell, are fond of the vaguely supernatural, and could use some fun, light reading, I suggest that you buy a copy. If you don’t have a comic shop nearby, or the one near you doesn’t have a copy, I suggest you go to my favorite comic shop, A Timeless Journey, in Stamford, CT.

Enjoy, effendis!
